It's Results Day! You will get through this!

Congratulations to everyone out there who has completed exams! Exams are challenging; they are designed that way. Well done for dedicating effort and time to studying. I hope you can find satisfaction in your results. Some people will be super happy today, while others will be feeling disappointed of dejected. Please embrace your emotions (it is okay to feel sad or disappointed). Remember to celebrate no matter what the sheet of paper says.

Advice for disappointed students:

  1. You are more than your exam results: Exams may feel like the only thing that matters - remind yourself of your skills and qualities beyond the classroom.

  2. Failure presents an opportunity for new learning: Some students view failure as the worst possible outcome. Recognise that failure could be the chance to discover new study methods or explore different avenues.

  3. Shift your perspective: Rather than thinking "I should have performed better..." shift your mindset to "It would have been great to do better, but I put in effort, hard work, and maintained my focus to study!". If you didn't meet your expectations, shift your focus toward addressing and adapting to future challenges.

  4. Be kind to yourself: Kindness is a valued shared by many young people; they value being kind and helping others, but when it comes to themselves, they tend to be harshly critical. Talk to yourself as you would your best friend.

  5. Look after your mental health by talking to others: If you sense your mental health is being affected by your exam results, please reach out for support - that may be a parent/guardian/friend/teacher.

Again, Congratulations to everyone who completed exams! Please celebrate!
